Q: What type of movies is 19Films looking for?

19Films is interested in stories with an entertaining, simple premise that will appeal to the widest audience possible. All genres are welcome. By the way, if you’ve got the next Paranormal Activity, consider it green lighted!

Q: Will I get to direct my movie or be an actor in my movie?

The default answer is no. Demanding to direct or act in your movie is a risky gamble that will usually prevent serious financing consideration. However, 19Films will at least consider it. A good script alone is not enough leverage to demand a directing or acting job. Directing and acting jobs are awarded based on proven skill in those areas of craft.

Q: Will I get paid for my script?

Yes. 19Films will gladly pay for great scripts and hire great writers.

Q: Will I get rich and famous from making a low-budget movie with 19Films?

Probably not, but maybe. In order to get rich, your movie must drastically out-perform the expectations of the distributors. Examples of movies that out-performed expectations include The Blair Witch Project, Napoleon Dynamite, Fireproof, Facing the Giants, Paranormal Activity and Open Water. Even though these filmmakers earned a healthy profit, not all of them became famous.

Q: Will 19Films steal my movie idea?

No. 19Films relies on creating positive relationships with talented writers.

Q: Who is 19Films and what have you done?

19Films is a new film finance and production company founded by refugees from high-tech and real estate industries looking for more exciting business opportunities. 19Films was started to mine the independent filmmaking community for the best up-and-coming talent and is currently assembling its first production slate. We are waiting to make your film!

Q: Can I contact you?

Of course you can. But, we don’t have anything new to tell you. Submit an idea, and we’ll consider financing it. It’s that simple. Due to the high volume of questions we receive, we do not publish our phone number. The best way to get our attention is to have a great idea and fill out the submission form.

Q: If I submit my script to 19Films, does 19Films own it?

No. Your script is your property.

Q: Will 19Films provide feedback about my idea or script?

If we like your idea, you will definitely hear from us! If your idea is not a film that we want to make, then you will not be contacted.
